Working with a mass of materials – most everything from vines to zippers – and transforming them into something of beauty, function and/or value is immeasurably satisfying. I often mix natural materials with man-made ones and discover that each material has its own personality. These various personalities intrigue me, compelling me to investigate their potential, pushing me out of any comfort zone I may have, and forcing me to become aware of whatever message they may carry. What is the message? Who is it for? Will it be recognized?
