A love of the outdoors is evident in my representational and semi-abstract paintings. Divergent shapes from nature, flowers, and landscapes are my inspirations.  Archival quality watercolor paints and papers are used in my creations.  Some paintings are overlaid with an eclectic selection of handmade papers and/or tissue paper texturized with water based paints to create a watercolor collage.

My art has been exhibited in numerous galleries, and it has received recognition from the Illiana Artists, the Lexington Art League, the Scott County Art League and the Kentucky Watercolor Society.   I have had a solo art exhibition at the Good Foods Coop in Lexington, KY and a three-person art exhibition at the Munster Performing Arts Center Gallery in Munster, IN.   I have been juried as an Exhibiting Artist with the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen and an Exhibiting Artisan at the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea, KY.

An art minor at Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin confirmed my interest in art.   After completing a master’s degree at Purdue University and a 32 year career in education my second career as a watercolor artist began.   I studied watercolor with Kathleen Los Rathburn, mentored with Barbara Meeker, and studied portraiture with Michael Chelich.  Studying with Billie Shelburne at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN and Roland Roycroft at the Northern Michigan Artists and Craftsmen Center sharpened my artistry.  Participation in a one week artists’ retreat on Pritchard’s Island off the coast of South Carolina enhanced my desire to share a love of nature through watercolors and watercolor collage.
