My father, Blake Page, was a water color artist and country lawyer in Winchester, Kentucky, and instilled in me a love of color. It was love at first loop when a friend introduced me to hand hooking circa 1998. Now it is a passion which includes searching for one hundred per cent wool, dyeing it in fabulous shades of colors, and incorporating the cut wool strips onto linen backing using a special hook. Having completed several rugs, I now find pillows and wall hangings more challenging, as it is possible to use yarns, beads, ribbons and other embellishments for pizzazz. We hand hookers are constantly learning new ways to use our craft and enjoy attending Rug Hooking Schools in California, Kentucky, West Virginia and Florida. |
