The Crystal Productions Studio is located in Richmond, Ky. The glass art studio, operated by Tom Long and his wife Julie, has been providing handcrafted decorative art glass since 1990. Crystal Productions produces a variety of products including Paperweights, Flowers, Vases, Perfume Bottles, Platters, Ornaments and Bowls. These items are produced in a wide range of sizes, shapes and color combinations. Of special interest, are the Ornaments produced by the Studio which exhibit beautiful detail and have been marketed to numerous galleries, dealers and private businesses across the USA. The love of fashioning Art Glass began for Tom in 1979 when he constructed his first stained glass window. With that modest introduction to the glass world, there began an ever increasing excursion into other disciplines of glass craftsmanship including glass etching, beveling, fusing, painting and finally off-hand furnace and lamp worked glass. In addition to directly assisting Tom in the manufacturer of the various products, Julie’s color instincts and compositions learned from years of experience as a weaver and seamstress influence all of Crystal Production’s art glass products. Tom learned the art of working glass by being an apprentice for two years. He then built his first glass studio in 1990, but continued taking formal classes and instruction from Corning Glass, NY, Pendland Glass, NC and Detroit Glass Working, MI. Of special note, is that Tom’s experience is also derived from having the opportunity to observe the techniques of the renowned Italian glassworker Lino Tagliapietra. |
