I studied chemical engineering at the University of Cincinnati and worked at automotive plastics technology for a couple of years before deciding to move to southern Kentucky to live in a tipi. It was then that I started to make things from the woods I found in the local forest. Tipi living didn’t suit me, but my woodworking continued. By 1980 I had discovered art fairs as a way to sell the things I made, and in 1981 won my first award and the die was cast. I have been a member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen for 25 years and also belong to the American Craft Council, the Michigan Guild, and Ohio Designer Craftsmen. I still sell the things I make at art fairs and occasionally still win awards. I’ve participated in many exhibitions at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft in Louisville as well as other venues around the region. Also been published in at least half a dozen books featuring woodworkers, most recently 400 Wood Boxes from Lark Books. |
