Owen Zachary Crawford is an American sculptor from Upstate New York. He moved to Kentucky in 1992 after attending Massachusetts' Westfield State College, where he studied ceramics and art history. Upon arrival to Louisville, Zac began working in a relative's steel fabrication shop where he was introduced to working with stainless steel. His natural aptitude eventually led him into pipefitting, and for six years he worked as a member of the local 522 pipefitters union. His knack for high precision work -a must for pipefitting- is evident in his furniture, sculpture and architectural installations. Distinguished for his skilled craftsmanship and creativity, Crawford was heralded by the Courier Journal as a "tour de force" in his first group exhibition "Furniture Makers” at the Chapman Friedman Gallery. Crawford and his wife maintain their metal studio, O.Z. Sculptures, from their home located in Louisville, KY near historic Churchill Downs. A collaborative husband and wife team, the Crawfords have been designing and hand-fabricating furniture, sculpture, and architectural elements since 2000. Their works have been acquired by individual and corporate collectors across America. |
