Jeweler, Artist, Author, Speaker Cindy was born on March 2, 1959, in Winchester, KY to parents Colista Ledford, and the late Homer C. Ledford, world-renowned bluegrass and folk musician, legendary dulcimer maker, and inventor of musical instruments, which are part of a special exhibit in the Smithsonian Institution. Since 1981, Cindy’s handcrafted jewelry and art has delighted and inspired thousands of satisfied customers. Her books include Harmony and Me, and a second self-help book, soon-to-be published. Cindy also collaborates on many creative projects with her husband, composer and musician, Michael Fess. Artist’s Statement "I have been an artist as long as I can remember. I have always enjoyed the creative process, whether it is making jewelry, painting, drawing, writing, or whatever my creative muse leads me to do. My father (the late Homer C. Ledford, KGAC member) inspired me to follow my heart and my passion. I hope that my love and belief in the divinity of all living things shines through my creations so that it uplifts, heals and touches people’s hearts.” ~Cindy Lowy Fess Award Recipient-- Cindy was recognized during the 25th Silver Anniversary Market Awards dinner, Friday, March 2, 2007 as part of Kentucky Crafted: The Market 2007, at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center, Louisville. In recognition of long-term dedication to personal craft development and an exemplary level of accomplishment, Cindy Lowy (Cindy Lowy Fess) has been designated a Kentucky Crafted Emeritus honoree and granted lifetime honorary juried participant status by the Kentucky Craft Marketing, (KCM) a program of the Kentucky Arts Council. |
