Equestrian Wireworks was begun in 1988 and officially established in 1990. As a central Kentucky native, outdoor enthusiast, environmental conservationist and veterinarian, this endeavor encompasses my love for the horse, my profession and my passion for the environment. This business was devised as a means to an educational ends. It has a green origin and deep Kentucky roots.

The media used to capture the spirit of the horse is 100% recycled. The tags are made from recycled card stock and the string attaching them to the sculpture originates from horse feed bags. The wire is recycled from various sources. The bailing wire comes from hay and straw bales used on numerous central Kentucky horse farms. Recycled copper and other wire types are used to create smaller sculptures and jewelry. The backs on the derby pins are recovered from used nametags. All items used in creation of my sculptures were otherwise destined for the trash bin. The bags, boxes and shipping materials I utilize have a similar story.

Many of my sculptures have been fortunate enough to find their way into articles and onto magazine covers. They have even been featured on television. They appeared on the January 1999 cover of the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association; on the April 2002 University of Kentucky Press publication; in Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine’s publication the CVM Quarterly; in the Danville, Kentucky Advocate Messenger; They have been showcased on HG tv’s “Offbeat America” in 2005. They are depicted in the American Saddlebred Museum’s national sales catalogue. They are carried in many Kentucky State Park gift shops as well as sold in both Labrot and Graham and Jack Daniel’s distilleries’ gift shops. They are offered for sale in numerous galleries in Kentucky and across the United States.

Each piece is uniquely crafted by hand and no two could possibly be alike. The wire has natural bends and kinks that allow me to envision each animal in it’s completed form when I first look at the wire. I prefer to create horses, but as a veterinarian I create a multitude of other creatures. I have sculpted various breeds of dogs, wolves, tigers, deer, moose, ferrets, lions, llamas, alpacas, pot bellied pigs, bears, fish, cattle, elephants, giraffes, hippopotami, and many, many more. I have created a few humans, carts, fences and buggies. I prefer to capture life in motion rather than the static form.

The creations range from under ½ inch to larger than life size. The most popular size is generally from 8-10 to about 15 inches at the withers. In the spring I create quite a few foals that will lay quietly in the palm of your hand. I make lapel pins, free standing miniatures, pendants, ornaments, floral picks, table top to standard shelf sizes, life size outdoor pieces, laterally compressed wall hangings, wreaths, sculptures mounted to drift wood or used horse shoes, and other items specially contracted. The horses are available in all sizes, breeds, stances and gaits.

Special orders are taken and may require more than 4-6 weeks for delivery. In general, all gaits and breeds under 18 inches are available throughout the year. Feel free to call with any questions or concerns. ENJOY your EQUESTRIAN WIREWORK and feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Many thanks again for selecting one of my pieces!!!
