During the eighties, while raising her son, she earned bachelors and masters degrees from University of Louisville and entered a twenty year career in psychotherapy. In 1994 she established a successful private practice which continued for over 10 years.

Despite the demands of job and family, over the years she studied drawing and painting at University of Louisville’s Department of Fine Arts under Jim Grubola, Mark Priest, Kathy Shepherd, Ying Kit Chan and John Whitesell. She has also taken opportunities to study with other respected artists such as Daniel Greene and John Michael Carter.

Kathy works primarily in soft pastel and oil paint, with an emphasis on portrait painting. Her works have received honors in a number of shows in Kentucky and can be found in private and public collections throughout the country.
