Robert Mattingly - June 2019 Artist of the Month

We're excited to share our June Artist of the Month for 2019: Robert (Bob) Mattingly! Bob is a Kentucky native who grew up in Maysville. He always loved working with metal. After graduating from high school, he attended Morehead State University, where he obtained a degree in Business Education and manufacturing. He then went on to get a Master's degree in Vocational Education. He spent 20 years as a contract engineer traveling all over the country doing automated manufacturing for various companies. He then settled in Powell County where he spent 20 years teaching in the public school system. Teresa Howard - May 2019 Artist of the Month

The Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen is please to announce our May 2019 Artist of the Month, Teresa Howard!   Teresa Howard is a juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artisans and Craftsman, the Kentucky Appalachian Artisan Center in Hindman, KY, and the Sheltowee Artisans Guild in Somerset, KY. She is also listed with the Kentucky Artisans Heritage Trail, the ArtistsRegistry.com and 4Culture Registry.com. She offers to anyone her highly crafted and unique stained and fused glass pieces. Beginning with an idea, she proceeds to draw it out on paper, and using this as a pattern, she then cuts out the glass pieces, grinds them to fit, and then completes the design through a number of different processes. Whitney Withington - Artist of the Month for March 2019

Find out more about Whitney Withington, KY Guild Artist of the Month, March 2019! Doing business as Sacred Woman Text, Whitney Withington has been creating unique and personal hand-made journals since the 1990s. In 2019, Whitney received a grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women to create artist books presenting the lives of African-American women and their families in Appalachia. A collection of her hand-made journals are available at the Kentucky Guild Visual Arts Galleries in Old Town Berea.
