Teresa Howard - May 2019 Artist of the Month

The Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen is please to announce our May 2019 Artist of the Month, Teresa Howard!   Teresa Howard is a juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artisans and Craftsman, the Kentucky Appalachian Artisan Center in Hindman, KY, and the Sheltowee Artisans Guild in Somerset, KY. She is also listed with the Kentucky Artisans Heritage Trail, the ArtistsRegistry.com and 4Culture Registry.com. She offers to anyone her highly crafted and unique stained and fused glass pieces. Beginning with an idea, she proceeds to draw it out on paper, and using this as a pattern, she then cuts out the glass pieces, grinds them to fit, and then completes the design through a number of different processes. Dee Dee Lanham - April 2019 Artist of the Month

We're excited to announce our April 2019 Artist of the Month! Dee Dee Lanham lives in her hometown of Lexington, KY where she telecommutes as a project manager for an architecture firm in Atlanta, GA. She comes from a family that has always loved the tradition of coloring eggs at Easter and spent many afternoons with her grandmother experimenting with unique ways to color eggs. In 2000, she discovered the art of making traditional Ukrainian pysanky and was hooked. It is an art form she is passing down to her own family. A pysanky (pehSANkeh) egg ornament is made using a traditional wax resist and egg dye method, similar to the wax crayon you may remember coming in the store...

Whitney Withington - Artist of the Month for March 2019

Find out more about Whitney Withington, KY Guild Artist of the Month, March 2019! Doing business as Sacred Woman Text, Whitney Withington has been creating unique and personal hand-made journals since the 1990s. In 2019, Whitney received a grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women to create artist books presenting the lives of African-American women and their families in Appalachia. A collection of her hand-made journals are available at the Kentucky Guild Visual Arts Galleries in Old Town Berea.

Diana Colgate - Artist of the Month - February 2019

Diana Colgate lives in Somerset, Kentucky. She primarily works from models, nature, and photos. The inspiration for her work is nature and objects in transition. While pastels are her primary medium, she also works in watercolors, oils, and pencil. Her favorite subjects include portraits, landscapes, doorways and porches.
