The Jazz singer- Ella Fitzgerald-inspired soft doll with machine embroidery
Regular priceSale price
Ella Fitzgerald, known as the first lady of song, was inspired by a 1955 photograph of the celebrated jazz singer wearing a similar satin dress. I grew up listening to her music and remember hearing a recording of "Satin Doll" that influenced my creation. Teresa sewed yarn onto a muslin strip and attached it to her head, then grouped it into pin curls and hand-sewed it in place.
Ella is 16 inches tall and features a Kona cotton body, wool felt hair with hand-stitched yarn hair in her famous pin curl crown style, and poly-satin dress in teal blue inspired by a real Ella gown. Accessories include an attached faux-pearl necklace, removable shoes, and embroidered microphone. She is stuffed with poly- fil fiber.
This doll comes beautifully packaged in a window gift box with an attached embroidered ribbon of her famous song title, "Dream A Little Dream of Me".
